Before-Filming
Before I filmed Jono's Mercedes AMG A45 around TRAX Silverstone 2021, I made the long walk from the PumaSpeed stand. Jonny and I had the biggest challenge with the strong winds.
The JibOne shifted from side to side. However, I know I can stabilise the footage on Premiere Pro. We headed to the arena to film some supercars at the stand. The Chrome Chameleon wrap caught my eyes on Jono's A45 AMG - How could I not film this Mercedes.
During-Filming
We asked Jono, "can we film your Mercedes AMG A45?" Jono said, "sure." I planned the front three-quarter angle of the Mercedes. During the first scene, I planned a three-quarter rear angle of the AMG A45 to capture the vividness of the wrap. Yeah!
Though I had some focusing issues with the camera, I persisted and got a crispy rear and three-quarter rear angle of the Mercedes. Next, Jonny planned to film the side-profile angle of the AMG A45 to see the chrome wrap change.
During the second scene, I had a finite time to photograph the AMG A45 because the Mercedes had a crazy amount of people around the car and not to get in the way of the film.
Editing The Video
Before I edited the Mercedes AMG A45 video, Jonny noted, "some of the videos of the AMG A45 might be fuzzy. The chrome wrap dazzled the camera." Next time I'm using the manual 28mm lens".
I replied with, "sure! I'll see what I can do with footage on Premiere Pro. It's such a delight filming the Mercedes at TRAX Silverstone".
Though, the camera struggled with focusing in the first video of the Mercedes AMG A45. Nevertheless, it provided nice tension and cinematic touch to the first clip.
Thankfully, the side profile of the AMG A45 was crisper. I shortened the footage to make the pacing smoother. I stabilised the first and second videos of the Mercedes. Indeed!
I had a soundtrack roadblock with the Mercedes AMG A45. The first song sounded too cheesy! So, I went with a subtler yet trippy trap sample and added more contrast to the track in Audition.
Conclusion
You can't knock it until you've tried it! It was a phenomenal experiment filming Jono's Mercedes AMG A45 at TRAX Silverstone and seeing how the camera reacted with the chameleon chrome wrap.
